ziMS Flight Fest

Main Stream Events and PR Firm had the pleasure to work the ziMS Foundation on their first ziMS Flight Fest.

"The ziMS Foundation was founded by Washington Nationals’ All-Star First Baseman Ryan Zimmerman in 2006.  The event was held at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA, which was a terrifically unique venue.  Not sure where else you can find autographed baseball jerseys in the same room as nearly 100 year old aircraft!  The event spanned from 2pm – 7pm, was fun for the whole family, and helped to raise money for a wonderful cause – the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Many athletes “support” a charity, but it’s really admirable to see how much Ryan cares about his foundation’s work and the cause behind it.  In fact, Ryan is consistently very warm and accommodating at ziMS events.  He takes time to chat with each guest, take pictures, and even sign autographs.

I’m not sure anybody knew what to expect with the first annual Flight Fest.  It was definitely more of a “family friendly” event than past events – it included activities and games for the kids like “bubble soccer” and face painting, a photobooth, and a live band (The Vinyl Headlights, who were very good!).  Entrance to the event included all you can eat food and drink.  The food and drink featured a pig roast barbecue with accompanied side dishes, oysters, funnel cakes and fried oreos, and soft drinks and beer and wine!  The evening concluded with an impressive fireworks show as well.

Of course, while we all had fun and enjoyed the day, we were there to raise money for the ziMS Foundation as well.  Ryan presented a check for $200,000 to go towards research and finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.  The event held a silent auction with over 100 items up for bid, and a new software interface that allowed all bidding to be performed via cell phones.  There was also a raffle, in which a signed Zimmerman jersey, a cruiser bike, and a 55” television were all raffled away to three lucky winners." Christopher Nahlik

We had amazing sponsors and we can't thank them enough for supporting ziMS Foundation and landing a cure for MS.

Main Stream Events and PR Firm had the pleasure of bringing in great vendors such as Military Aviation Museum, Affordable & Luxury Event Rentals, Mobile Pig-Nic Catering, Catering Concepts, Ice Art, Vinyl Headlights, Hampton Roads Combat Games,  Hoffman Beverage, Boardwalk Photobooth, Zambelli Fireworks, Jody's Popcorn, HERR's Snacks, Spivey Rentals, Kenyatta Osby, Special Event Providers of Emergency Medicine, Sunbelt Rentals,  and Event Staffing, Inc.

A few kind works:

"You put together a first class event and I implore everyone to take their time and money and support such a worthy cause.  You won’t be disappointed! "
Christopher Nahlik

"Just a note to tell you how much we loved the ziMS Flight Fest.  So many families and  kids really made it special.  The face painting, silent auction, raffle and archery were outstanding.  Most of all, Bill (one of our sponsors) loved riding in the vintage WWII plane. The food was deliciious and the staff so helpful.  It really sets a high bar for family fun and entertainment.  Thanks so much for all you do to fight MS. Raising so many dollars is a tribute to the entire family.  Our compliments"  Jane and Bill Hoover

"My family and I had such a great time during ziMS Flight Fest. The airplane ride was such an amazing experience for my daughter and husband. The fireworks show at the end was a great way to end the night. We look forward to attending next year."

Volunteer at Burrage Mansion

Why does Karen of Main Stream Events and PR Firm volunteer her time with organizations like Mansion Memories? She believes in giving back to the community that she lives and works in. She donates her time because she believes in helping others. She has been volunteering for Mansion Memories for a short time, but she feels like home when it comes to these events.

December 10 was a Toy Story Magical Day where we had characters visit from the Toy Story movie, children played interactive games, had a face paint station, photo opportunities, a letter to Santa station, a nice meal, and the fellowship of being at a mansion with other children. These children were nominated to come to the mansion and their eyes just lit up from the time they arrived until they departed and even older teenagers that were a bit macho in the beginning were taking photos with the characters and writing letters to Santa. Every child deserves to be a child and even the adults (like me) deserve to have some magic.

These are just a few of the pictures that were done for the setup and I snagged a few of Karen and her mom volunteering along with the other volunteers.   Mansion Memories could not put on these events without the assistance of sponsors and volunteers.

What is a magical day?

Magical Days are special events held at the Burrage Mansion several times throughout the year. These enchanting galas are designed to bring love, hope, excitement and joy back into the lives of children who are experiencing crisis. These are kids who are facing a serious illness or who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling—all heart breaking stories. While we can’t erase the pain or suffering that has impacted their lives, we can offer these special children and their families a day full of joy and magic and happiness.

How Do We Select Our Families? Families are nominated from within the community who have social, economic or health related crisis. Please note: Due to limited space and our goal to serve as many families in crisis as possible, we cannot accommodate grandparents, aunt, uncles, cousins or friends at the Magical Day. Only Nominees selected to participate and their immediate family members may attend the Magical Day event.

How To Get Involved? We typically have over 150 volunteers to make these events a reality. From decorating to food preparation to the final clean up, our amazing volunteer workers are a crucial component to our success. Volunteer opportunities will be announced as needed for each event.

Redlands Conservancy

Main Stream Events and PR Firm had the privilege to volunteer at a fabulous dinner to benefit Redlands Conservancy. Combine a tour of an elegant historic home with a delicious dinner and an exciting Silent Auction, all on a late summer evening, and the scene was set for Redlands Conservancy’s 2016 Annual Social. That’s been the formula for 23 years, and it has brought together the Conservancy’s mission of preserving historic buildings with a passion for having fun.

Since the Bottenberg house was built in 1900 for Mrs. Helen Bates by Davis Donald, the Victorian house has had only five owners including Peter and Michele Bottenberg who took over from the fourth owners, Bill and Mary Bottenberg. With six bedrooms and five baths, and a servant’s quarters, the house has a massive presence at the corner of South Center Street and Clifton Avenue. According to the Bottenbergs, it has never had significant remodeling and retains the original woodwork and most of the original lighting.

Chef Malissa Grinnals of Dining In-Style Personal Chef Service provided the fully catered dinner for the third year in a row, following rave reviews from guests. The main dish choices were tri-tip and vegetable stack and I must say, everything was amazing.

Karen Gould of Main Stream Events and PR Firm volunteered her time to be a part of this fundraiser.  Main Stream Events and PR Firm believes in giving back to their community and Redlands Conservancy is one of the organizations that they volunteer several times a year for.
